Psychiatrists
What they do
A psychiatrist is a medical doctor who has specialised in people’s mental health. Psychiatrists can diagnose and treat patients individually or in a group setting, based upon the preference and requirements of the patient and their underlying mental health issue. Treatment may include both psychological treatment and medication, according to a devised treatment by the psychiatrist. Most often, it is your GP who will refer you to a psychiatrist, however, there are certain symptoms that may want you to speak to a psychiatrist directly.
